Hello God,
“Faith comes by hearing, and by hearing of the Word of God”. One preacher said that means listening to the Bible, reading the Bible out loud to yourself, and listening to sermons – or at least, that’s what I got out of it. So in the quest to increase my faith, I have been listening to quite a lot of sermons.
Now, God, here’s the issue; it feels like there’s a lot of noise in my head. Let me explain. Although it’s generally the same, everyone seems to have a different perception and understanding of You, and of the Bible. You said we are allowed to have many instructors but one Father(1 Corinthians 4:15), but even in my Father’s house, there are sometimes many voices. Hence, the noise.
And I know what the solution is: to hear from You and know You for myself. Easier said than done. It seems to be an excruciatingly slow journey, with more setbacks than I care to admit. Then again, You said You will build Your church, that’s me, and that the gates of hell will not prevail against it. So I know I’m a conqueror. I’ll keep trying to know You for myself, because You are worth it. And when it gets too noisy in my head; Holy Spirit, help me discern which ones are indeed truth. Grant me the grace and fire to continually know You for myself. Thank You for always being there.
Truly,
Your regular church girl.
