The Epistles

YOLO! Ever since I heard this acronym, I had been a believer of what it fully meant until today when I discovered something quite interesting about it.

The acronym is spelt out “You Only Live Once” which is absolutely true and yet definitely false. Why do I say this, you ask?

You see, in this life, it is either you are living for God or you are living in the world. There’s no middle ground as the bible speaks against being lukewarm; that the Lord will spit them out of His mouth(Rev 3:15-16). So for those who choose to live in the world and according to the dictates of the flesh, YOLO is indeed true for them, because in actual fact they do live Once but will die Twice! How bold of me to make such a statement right? Stay with me, would you? Let’s see what the bible says.

The first death is the natural death as stated in Hebrews 9:27; “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment”,

And the second death is being cast into the lake of fire as stated in Revelations 20:14-15.

20:14    Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

20:15    And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

But the bible makes us understand that if one be in Christ, there is Life after death. So the Saints of God Most High do not ‘only live once’ because we have life and we will have eternal life when Christ Jesus comes the second time. Revelations 20:4-6 makes us understand this.

20:4     And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

20:5     But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

20:6     Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

So now I no longer sing to the tune of YOLO. But the question is, would you continue to sing to this tune or would you now join the circle of “Christ is the Answer” campaign, while the salvation door is still open and Jesus is still saving? Know that the door shall not remain open forever as in Matthew 25:10-12 when the 5 foolish virgins came back, the door was shut to them and the Bridegroom said to them “I do not know you”.

Even them that were a part of the virgins had the door shut to them then how much more them that were not part of the virgins. My brother, my sister salvation is free and the worship of God is easy. Make the decision now to receive Christ and journey the narrow way that leads to life. This is the best gift one can give to him or herself.
