The Omnipresent God

I would like to share a little story…

My birthday this year was on a Sunday, so I did the best thing I could do: go to church. I decided that since it was a Sunday, I would go to my Pastor to pray for me because I had never done that before.

First, let me say that it’s a big church! So I was in a queue for over an hour before I got to see him and that was after heading there immediately we closed. I didn’t stop to say hi to anyone, and I usually always do. While waiting, some high priority people were squeezed in once or twice. I would’ve most likely done the same in such position. I missed a couple of meetings while waiting but the wait was worth it though because I got great prayers and declarations over me.

In that time of waiting though, I appreciated on a new level the omnipresence of God. That all I need is to call on His name and He is there to answer. I was (and still am) grateful for Jesus’ finished work on the cross that ensures that I have free access to, be reconciled and have intimacy with God.

And I was (again, still am) grateful for the amazing gift of the Holy Spirit because it doesn’t matter how much my Pastor tries, he can’t be there for everyone at the same time. He is a great man of God, but even he is limited by his humanness.

Imagine if it were like the early days where healing came only when Jesus spoke a word. Even Jesus could only be at one place at a time, so there was only so much He could do for everyone. And of course the disciples didn’t see it that way because they were always with Him; Jesus could always speak a word to them when needed. So when Jesus told them He was going away after the ascension, they were filled with sorrow (John 16:7).  But then He told them it was to their advantage that He goes away so that the Holy Spirit can come. And oh how wonderful it has been!

How amazing is it? That you don’t have to queue to get in a word with God?! He said you will call on Him in the day of trouble and He will deliver you, and you will glorify Him (Psalms 50:15). That He is El-Shaddai, the many breasted God, so we can all be fed and attended to equally. That you’re just as important and loved as the next person.

God is omnipresent, and He is always with you. Call on Him today!
